Lighting design
Concept to encore, for bands playing theatres, arenas and festival stages. Based on the Gold Coast, working Brisbane and Australia-wide.
Every design starts with the music. Before anything goes on a plot, Pat listens to the record and reads the set - where it lifts, where it breathes, where the room should fall away entirely. The show gets built around that shape rather than bolted on top of it.
Then the practical work: rig design, plots and paperwork a crew can actually load in from. Fixture counts that suit the budget and the truck. Patch and magic sheets that still make sense at eight in the morning, in a room nobody has seen before.
Colour and movement come out of the song, not a preset. The aim is a show that feels inevitable - the band play it, the light agrees with them, and nobody in the room is thinking about the lighting.
Scale is flexible. A single hometown headline, a support slot on a national run, or a full tour design carried room to room - the process is the same, the paperwork just gets thicker.

- Do you work with house rigs?
- Most of the time, yes. A lot of shows land in a room with a rig already in the roof, and the job is to get everything out of it - repatch, refocus, rebuild the looks so it reads as a designed show rather than a house special.
- Design-only, or supply and operate?
- Either. Pat can hand over a plot and paperwork for someone else to run, or design, supply through trusted suppliers, and operate the show himself. Most acts want the last one.
- Do you travel outside the Gold Coast?
- Regularly. Brisbane and South East Queensland are home turf, and national runs are normal - shows have been operated in venues right around Australia.
- What do you need to get started?
- The music, a set list if it exists, and the dates. Everything else - venue specs, rig, budget - gets worked out from there.
