National runs, room to room. Based on the Gold Coast, touring theatres, arenas and festival stages across Australia.
Touring is a paperwork problem before it's a lighting problem. The design has to survive a different room every night, a crew who have never seen it, and a load-in that's always shorter than the schedule said.
So it gets planned that way. Advance and patch documentation goes out ahead of the truck, written for the person who has to receive it - honest about what's needed, clear about what can flex. House crews get a plot they can hang without a phone call.
Show files travel ready. The rig changes, the looks don't: a design built so it reads the same from the back of a theatre as it does from the back of an arena, and degrades gracefully when a room simply can't give you the trim.
Pat spends the rest of his life on the other side of that email - house tech at Fortitude Music Hall, receiving other people's advances. It tends to make for better ones.

- Do you travel?
- Yes - national runs are normal. The Gold Coast and Brisbane are home, but shows have been operated in venues right around Australia, and touring away from home is most of the work.
- Do you supply the rig, or work with what's there?
- Both. Gear can be supplied through trusted suppliers when a tour needs to carry its own package, and plenty of runs are done off house rigs with a design that adapts room to room.
- What gets sent ahead of the show?
- Advance and patch documentation, a plot, and a show file built for the room. Production and house crew get what they need before the truck arrives, not on the day.
- Can you work with house crew and house rigs?
- That's most of touring. Pat is a house tech himself, so the paperwork is written for the person receiving it - clear, honest about what's needed, and quick to load in.
